I just heard from splice. I had asked him for a book update. Here is what he sent back.
"Not gonna happen. Sorry. The decision was made that it's too expensive to produce for expected return. You have to live with what I published on tumblr. Truly sorry. Splice"
I had suggested to him that he could self-publish online, which he could do with litle cost, but for whatever reason he didn't like that idea.
Well, I think that's very disappointing. Really can't wrap my head around that. He could crowdfund the book and I'm sure it would pay for itself. In this day and age, there are so many options. Just seems kind of lazy to me.
As I said, I suggested he sell it on the internet, but he didn't like he idea. Little overhead and major profit. But . . . .
There is no overhead. Publish each hardcover book on demand with Booksurge:
www.cnet.com/news/self-publishing-a-book-25-things-you-need-to-know/
And we can set-up a crowdfund site with Indiegogo, Kickstarter, whatever with his blessing.
If you have the answer and know it will work for him you should propose it to him in detail so he'll know it will be cost effective. That appears to be the stumbling block for him. He needs it to make sense for him financially and be worth the effort expended to make the book.
I sent him a message but nothing back from him yet.
OK. He needs to know how many people are interested in the Eugenia book, so I'm asking. I'm interested in 2 books.
Me also. I told him I would buy at least two. However, I believe the problem is right here on this site. When I asked the alleged fans on ED.com to send him this information months ago the response was poor. I believe we have overestimated the number of active fans on this site and their interest in getting up off their wallets. There is so much of her available on the Web. Additionally, books are from another generation. Few younger people see the need to spend money on a 'coffee table' type book with the same images they can get for free on the Web. It's like when the beautiful, frameable art of Eugenia, from various photographers like Grosjean and Kreimer, became available I don't think anyone from here purchased any except me. If we get to 10 books from this site I'll be surprised and we already have 4. I just don't think there is any REAL interest in her any longer. Her being retired to her art career hasn't helped either. Out of sight. Out of mind.
He might have better luck marketing such a book on her Facebook. Those 'friends' are more interested in her than what remains here.
I suggested to him to sell the photos or books online digital instead of print, but he wasn't interested in that. l don't know why, because he could do it himself and it would be all pofit with no overhead. But, for some reason, he was stuck on that book idea. You know, you can get all of Jenya's Deviant Art photos by Grosjean at a pretty reaosnable price through his fairtradenudes site. It's too bad Splice doesn't do that.
That's where I purchased my large framed Grosjean photo over a year ago. I shared all that information here at that time. No one seemed particularily interested.
I placed the following message on Eugenia Diordiychuk Fans Facebook site a few minutes ago.
"How many of you would purchase a 22 x 30,5 cm - 8.5 x 12 inches book of photos of Eugenia taken by splice for approximately $40-$50 US dollars? He is trying to determine interest before publication." We'll see if I get any response from those "fans" on that site.
Don't think I've been to that site. I'll check it out. Check out grojean's fairtradenudes. He's revised his pricing into seperate categrories for seperate needs. I'm buying all the Jenya ones soon, though I think you get his whole catalog for one low price.
I bought the two images from him that I wanted last year. I have a small 1 bedroom apartment. No more wall space. I have 26 painted and photographic images of her throughout the whole place. It 's like an erotic art gallery. One of the blessings of being 71 and single.
Sounds like jeffs007 is in for a bookcase then.
Yeah but it's not likely to happen. There is simply NOT enough interest in this proposed book. Only 3 of us have contributed to this thread about the book. So there is virtually NO interest here. 6 books at the most. Also, I've received no real interest in such a book on the ED Fans Facebook site. Like I said earlier, out of sight - out of mind. Sad situation.
Well that is a true crime if the proposed book has been shelved, pardon the pun. I for one would be a absolute definite for a copy. It's frustrating as hell that there appears that there has to be a perceived demand and presumably notable reserve orders before it could go ahead. I would have though a speculative run of 50,100 or 500 even could be produced and sold easily online with a little advertising and marketing.Afterall that's supposed to be the iinternet's forte isn't it :(
